North Shore Holiday Tradition Continues With Complimentary Hotel Stays for Family Members

For most people, the holiday season is filled with joy, laughter, good times, and family homecomings. Unfortunately, for those who are confined to a hospital bed, the holidays can be difficult and somewhat lonely…especially, if family members live outside the immediate area and aren’t able to visit. Thanks to the generosity of several North Shore hotels, this holiday season will be quite different.

“For the fifth year in a row, our hotel partners have decided to join forces to help make the holidays a bit easier and less stressful for local hospital patients and their families,” explains Gina Speckman, executive director of Chicago’s North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau (CNSCVB). “To do so, they will be providing complimentary hotel rooms to family members who want to be in closer proximity to their loved ones.”

To help lessen the financial and emotional challenges of caring for a family member who must stay in the hospital during the holidays, ten CNSCVB partner hotels will be participating in this very special holiday gesture. Each of them will be extending free room nights to the families of those who are patients at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie and other area hospitals.

This offer is available for close to three weeks beginning on Monday, December 10th  and continuing through Sunday, December 30th.  The CNSCVB participating hotels are:  Best Western University Plaza  (Evanston), Comfort Inn (Skokie), Hampton Inn Suites Chicago North Shore (Skokie), Hilton Garden Inn (Evanston), Holiday Inn North Shore (Skokie), The Homestead (Evanston), Hotel Orrington (Evanston), Margarita European Inn (Evanston), the DoubleTree Hotel & Conference Center Chicago North Shore (Skokie), and the Renaissance Chicago North Shore (Northbrook).

Information necessary to book the hotel rooms is available at each of the five participating hospitals. A representative from each hospital will be working with the families to help coordinate their hotel reservations.  “We hope that patients and their families will take advantage of the offer being made by our local hotel partners,” says Speckman.  “It certainly represents the true giving spirit of the holidays!”
